Unlock Your Studio's Full Potential with Better Acoustic Treatment

Not all acoustic treatment is built the same. There are levels to this, and we consistently deliver better results than our peers. Here’s how:

Our system transforms your studio's monitoring capabilities in a matter of hours - or even minutes if you use our "no install" version. Our Bass Traps have enough structural integrity to stand on their own, so you can build walls out of them without any installation hassles.

Traditionally, producers hired carpenters and acousticians for results like these at much higher costs. We've changed the game by offering off-the-shelf solutions that are affordable, effective, and available in bundles substantial enough to address your studio's acoustic challenges.

Why Choose Us?

Our system eliminates traditional markups and empowers music producers to manage their own needs. Whether you decide to use our free resources on the website or prefer our paid services, the results remain the same: you get a room that sounds professional. Our focus is on empowering music makers like you.

Over 90% of our customers are second time buyers. They have tried other solutions and found they were not substantial enough to handle low-frequency energy effectively. Our solutions offer an unbeatable price-to-performance ratio, and we always provide measurement data on request. We will also release data on this blog, so stay tuned!

The best in the business trust us: Peggy Gou, FJAAK, DVS1, Palms Trax, Hainbach, and more.

The King Kong Series: Bigger, Better, and Eco-Friendly

Our King Kong Series is now 20% larger for improved performance, and we offer the most eco-friendly traps on the market. Made from FSC Certified Pine and 100% upcycled or recycled materials, our products are designed with sustainability in mind.

Low-frequency issues in rooms under 300 Hz can slow down mixing and lead to misleading mixdowns. I often say that acoustic treatment won't necessarily make you a better producer - it makes you faster! It’s as crucial as your monitors. But let's be real: proper acoustic treatment will make you a better producer by removing the handicap of an untreated room, where you hear ca. 60% the actual room itself, not just what is coming out of your speakers. You can think of your room as a filter that you are always hearing. Removing that filter properly is the real game changer in the pursuit of crystal clear monitoring.

Understanding the Reality of Room Acoustics

Acoustics is often counterintuitive and frequently misrepresented. We exist to progress the industry for modern music makers. We've faced the same problems you do, and that’s why we started Kiss Your Ears. Many competitors offer outdated or inefficient solutions that can't effectively handle low frequencies without breaking the bank.

For example:

  • Tri traps and cylinder traps are often poorly designed for low-frequency absorption.
  • Foam triangle corner traps are not real bass absorbers.

Our King Kong Bass Traps are engineered for maximum efficiency.
More units may be needed than others would openly tell you (when using a broadband velocity absorber solution), but the results are worth it. You can also go much further than is commonly understood with this kind of approach. Think 80/20. Aka. 80% of your treatment will be optimised velocity absorbers. That's how the pro's do it!

Placement Matters... But Other Factors Matter More!

  • Placing thick absorbers at a 45-degree angle over corners maximises depth for low-frequency control and minimises space usage.
  • Positioning absorbers over early reflection points improves stereo imaging and reduces reverb and comb filtering.

Using thinner absorbers for early reflections and thicker ones for bass traps is an outdated practice. Modern genres require appropriate reverb times for sophisticated low-end monitoring. We recommend using only velocity absorbers until further treatment is needed. Pressure absorbers are inefficient and expensive for low-frequency control.

Our King Kong Bass Traps are effective down to 40 Hz when an adequate amount of them is placed in your studio. You can achieve 85% of world-class results at just 25% of the traditional cost with King Kong.

Cheat Codes for Optimal Studio Setup

For the best results, aim to split your traps into two functions, roughly 50/50:

  • Bass trap function: Covering corners
  • Reflection function: Treating surfaces

Don't get too hung up on specific positioning - test it out! “Physics is a blue-collar job,” as renowned acoustician John H. Brandt says. If you can’t decide between two options, try them both. It will likely take just 20 minutes and teach you something valuable.

The brutal reality is that if you don't understand what to expect as a difference between option A and option B, then its pretty hard to teach you! Better to enable you to teach yourself.

Until you have covered EVERY corner and EVERY reflective surface, you can keep going! You have to find the "sweet spot" for you. So, it doesn't make sense to try and fluff around with iterations of half baked ideas. Just put them in the room, prioritise corners and early reflection points, put some music on and play around !! Enjoy the process. We have many guides and examples available for you.

There is ALWAYS room for improvement.

Tailor Your Room Treatment to Your Needs

Remember, larger rooms require more traps due to increased volume and standing waves. The most important factor is having the adequate volume of engineered mass in the space. Even with 1 x KK per m², no competitors match our level of performance.

You don’t have to do everything at once if your budget is tight. Adding units in smaller bundles is modular and never undoes previous steps. This is a lifetime purchase that can be implemented in any room.

Our data consistently shows superior bass response, and our no-install version allows you to set up your studio in just a couple of hours. We offer the easiest and fastest installation on the market, saving you time and money while delivering better results.

How to Get Started: A Simple 3-Step Process

  1. Choose Your Desired Result: Use our simple formula based on your room’s size to guide you. For example:
    • Minimum control/production studio: 1 x KK per m² of floor space
    • Basic control/production studio: 1.2 x KK per m²
    • Professional control/mixing studio: 1.5 x KK per m² (the "sweet spot" for professional results on a budget)
    • Advanced control/mastering studio: 1.7 - 2.0 x KK per m²
  2. Select Your Aesthetic and Model: Choose between King Kong Classic, King Kong Premium, or King Kong X.
  3. Decide How to Install: Opt for free DIY guidance from our website, paid DIY WhatsApp guidance, on-site assisted installation, or VIP on-site installation.

Ready for Phase 2?

Most studio rooms can be treated similarly for the first 80% of the process. The last 20% is often unnecessary for most producers. However, if you want to move to Phase 2 (aka. The last 20%), we offer advanced options, including membrane traps and diffusion panels for ultra-low frequencies and livening up the room with a diffuse field.

We'll soon release these products on our website, along with detailed explanations on how to solve your acoustic problems in this blog. This will empower you to achieve a new level of understanding of your studio's potential.
